Hostel Accommodation near Kirriemuir, Scotland
Set in Glenprosen, the most intimate of the Angus Glens, and originally built as the Glen primary school in 1871, Prosen Hostel, Glenprosen, was opened in 2007 to serve the upgraded East Cairngorms footpath network. The hostel is ideally placed in what used to be the primary school in Glenprosen village, and on the southernmost edge of the Cairngorms National Park. Two Munros, the Mayar and Driesh, link Glenprosen to the Cairngorms plateau.
The Minister's Path leads over to Glen Clova, whilst a brand new footbridge and path alongside the prettiest stretch of the river Prosen connects via Backwater to Glenisla, and the Cateran trail, in Perthshire.
Converted to the latest and greenest specification, highly insulated (with Scottish sheep's wool), the living room has a wood burning stove, log boiler, internet connection, and raised area for lounging and admiring the view through the school's huge windows. 5 modern showers, 3 toilets, a drying room and laundering facilities complete the cosy welcome.
The nearby village hall is available to rent for ceilidhs, music sessions, parties, celebrations etc.
